Hello and welcome to the Rare Femslash Exchange, a multi fandom exchange focused on f/f ships with two or more female characters (canon or genderbent) and/or genderqueer characters that you feel would fit in a f/f exchange, with less than 250 works on AO3- completed, in English, using the otp:true filter. The minimum requirements are either a 500 word fic or a nice sketch.

You must be 18+ to participate.

The deadline has officially passed. Anyone who does not have an extension or have submitted a completed work will be defaulted. There will be a list of post deadline pinch hits posted within the next 24 hours.

Please make sure that your assignment is not in draft mode. If it, you will be considered defaulted as well.

If you have changed your username since assignments went out, please reach out via email at rarefemslashexchangemod@gmail.com so the records can be updated.

Many people have extensions so don't worry if you don't have a gift and aren't on the upcoming pinch hit post. However, you are more than welcome to reach out via email if you want to make sure or have any other questions/concerns.

Requests:

You can request a minimum of 3 unique fandoms with a maximum of 10 fandoms, with 1-10 ships and a choice of fiction, art, or both.

After you have three unique fandoms, you are allowed/welcome to repeat fandoms in both your offers and your requests.

There is a known bug with AO3 where the ship may be in the tagset but might not appear in the drop-down option. If that is the case, copy the ship from the tagset, paste it into the box (press enter afterwards), and AO3 should accept it.

You can edit/delete your sign-ups until sign-ups close.

If a sign-up does not include the required number of fandoms, it will be deleted when sign-ups close.

Optional details can be added in the box provided- you can list your likes/do not wants and put prompts for your creators. This will give your creator a better picture of what you would/wouldn't enjoy but they are optional.

Please note that you cannot use the likes/dnws to box your creator into making one certain type of work.

Please make sure you list your do not wants clearly within the 'optional details section'. If the do not wants are not clearly stated and/or are unreasonable, they will not be upheld. Do not wants in letters will not be upheld if there is a violation in the fanwork you receive either so please make sure to cross check what it is in your sign-up vs your letter.

If you're requesting more than one ship, please do not express preferences for one fandom/ship over the rest in your optional details and/or letter. Your creator will be matching to any of the fandoms you select, so please make sure you request fandoms and ships you'd be happy to receive a fanwork for!

If you're open to treats, please make a mention of this in the optional details of your sign-up. You're welcome to request only art and opt into fic treats and visa versa (as well as opt into both). You are also welcome to opt out of treats. Please remember stating you're open to treats does not guarantee you a treat.

There is a space to leave a link to your letter as well. Letters are optional, but should you link to a letter, please complete it as soon as you can to give your creator the maximum amount of time to work on your gift.

All fandoms and ships requested and offered in this exchange must be chosen from those nominated into the tagset.

You will match based on one fandom, ship, and medium.

If there aren't any offers that match your requests, you will go out for claiming as an initial pinch hit.

Pinch hits will be posted after assignments are sent out.

Offers:

You must offer a minimum of 3 unique fandoms with at least 1 ship. You can offer a maximum of 10 offers and 10 ships per offer.

You can offer a choice of art, fic, or both.

You will be matched on the fandom, ship, and the medium offered.

If for some reason that you are not matched to what you offer, please contact the mod immediately. That will be the only reason that we will change your assignment after they are given out.

If there aren't any requests that match your offers, the mod will contact you at the email address associated with your AO3 account to see if there is anything else you can offer. If you do not reply within 24 hours, or there is nothing else you can offer, your signup will be deleted.

Additional Information:

'Do not match requests' will be accepted for this exchange from now until sign-ups close.

If you wish to not match to a participant, please email rarefemslashexchangemod@gmail.com letting us know your AO3 name, the AO3 name of the participant you would like to not be matched to, and what you would like us to do in the instance where you are their only match as a creator, you are their only match as a recipient, and you are a pinch hit. We don't need to know the reasons for this request. We'll do our best to uphold your request.

Please do not use this as an opportunity to try and match to a specific creator.

Commenting are mandatory for this exchange so please remember that if you are signing up, you are expected to comment on your gift to participate in the next round. If you signed up for the last round and didn't comment by the time nominations opened, you will not be eligible to participate this round.

If your sign-up breaks any of the above rules or is found to be in bad faith, the mods may contact you. We hold the right to delete your sign-up without warning if we find that you're acting in bad faith.

To qualify for this exchange, a ship needs to be a f/f ship with less than 250 works on AO3, complete, written in English, and filtered using the otp:true filter.

Characters need to be either women (canon or genderbent) or genderqueer characters that you think would fit in a f/f exchange. So someone like LaFontaine from the Carmilla web series, who is canonically against being referred to/seen as a woman, would not be eligible. We're going to trust you to use your judgment on this one.

You can nominate up to 10 fandoms with 10 relationships ("/" only) each. We will not be accepting solo character nominations or relationships using "&".

Please stick to one ship per nomination. Multiple ships within one nomination, whether in the same fandom or crossover, will not be accepted (e.g. Lois Lane/Lana Lang & Chloe Sullivan/Tess Mercer (Smallville))

There's no need to disambiguate they are crossovers or you are nominating multiple versions of a ship in different canons. Outside the above exceptions, please try to use the canonical tag when possible.

Please specify which version of canon you would like rather than nominating under the 'all media' version of the tag, e.g. "Dragon Age (Video Games)" vs "Dragon Age (All Media)". Assassin's Creed and American Girl Dolls are the exceptions to this rule. If you feel your fandom has a case, please reach out.

Crossover Nominations: Please nominate crossovers with "Crossover Fandom" in the "Fandom" section of the nomination form, and both fandom names listed in the ship itself. e.g. "Dinah Lance (DCEU)/Natasha Romanov (MCU)".

Genderbent Ships: Nominate with a 'F' in front of the character(s) you want to genderbend, e.g. Natasha Romanov/F!Sam Wilson. Please remember that the original ship has to has to qualify, not the genderbent version, so Peggy Carter/F!Steve Rogers would not be eligible due to the fact that the fact that Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers is over the limit.

Threesomes/moresomes: Are permitted as long as they are eligible. However, v shaped relationships (e.g. "Maria Hill/Sharon Carter & Sharon Carter/Natasha Romanov") or two unrelated ships nominated together (e.g. "Lana Lang/Chloe Sullivan & Lois Lane/Tess Mercer") will not be accepted.

RPF: RPF is permitted, subject to eligibility as outlined above. Non-famous family members are not eligible. Under-18s are not eligible for modern RPF. Controversial figures will not be accepted either.

Regarding specific fandoms with various umbrella fandoms:

Arrowverse/DCTV: Please nominate under "Arrowverse (TV)". Shows not specifically in the Arrowverse but are part of the DC TV universe (i.e. Smallville, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Titans, Doom Patrol, etc.) should remain with their original tag. Shows such as Arrow and The Flash (2014) belong under "Arrowverse".

MCU: Please nominate under "Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)", e.g. "Maria Hill/Sharon Carter (MCU)". Marvel TV shows (i.e. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, WandaVision, TFATWS, Agent Carter, What If …?, Loki, etc.) need to be labelled with their own individual tag.

Doctor Who/Star Wars/Star Trek/X-Men/Stargate: Please refer to the specific version that you are nominating. For X-Men, please use either "The Original Trilogy" or "ATS" (for "Alternate Timeline Series").

Characters who are in separate subfandoms (e.g. "Jadzia Dax (Star Trek: DS9)/B'Elanna Torres (Star Trek: Voyager)") belong to the "Crossover Fandom" category.

Comics: Please nominate these under their specific category. For DCU, that would be "DCU (Comics)". With Marvel, please specify the version that you are nominating (Noir, 616, etc.), i.e. "Natasha Romanov/Carol Danvers under Marvel 616 rather than Marvel Comics".

DC Extended Universe: Please nominate under the "DC Extended Universe" category.

Original characters in non-original canons: You may nominate Character/Original Character(s), e.g. "Diana (Wonder Woman)/Original Female Character"; "Leia Organa (Star Wars: Original Trilogy)/Original Jedi Character". You can be as specific as you would like. Any original character(s) nominated will be assumed to be female.

Original Works: These must be nominated under "Original Work" in the following format: "Character Type/Character Type", e.g. "Princess/Maid", "Pilot/Soldier/General", etc. All characters will be assumed to be female. If they are not nominated in this way, they will be rejected.

Reader ships will not be accepted in this exchange.

Recursive fandoms are also not eligible for this exchange.
