This is just me being curious about the process. (I run fandom events and may run a matching event at some point in the future.)

If there were no unmatchables, what has led to their being nine pinch hits?

To be an unmatchable, it means that there is no one you can write for, not the other way around. People who land up on PH lists either have no one who can write for them (which is fine, not against the rules) or their potential creators are assigned to other people and later on, that their original creator defaulted of course. I hope that makes sense! :)
