I'm not sure about the Jim Jimenez ships (Archie/Jim Jimenez (OFMD), Jim Jimenez/Spanish Jackie (OFMD), Archie/Ching Shih | Zheng Yi Sao/Jim Jimenez (OFMD)) -- I haven't seen Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death, but Jim doesn't identify as woman-adjacent in Season 1.

Season 2 doesn’t change that. They’re canonically non-binary with some emphasis on “not a woman.” I didn’t say anything because I don’t want to knock other people’s noms, but it does feel a little…

Unfortunately, I was unfamiliar with the fandom so I appreciate hearing from other people who do know what is going on. From what I had researched, they seemed to just go by they/them (and their actor is NB too) and their initial presentation as a man was a disguise/playing on assumptions but if I am wrong, I would like to know and I can adjust the tagset accordingly.

Yes, Jim is nonbinary and not a man, and I understand that ships containing genderqueer characters can be eligible, but I thought that they were similar to LaFontaine from the Carmilla webseries (I believe Lola Perry/S. LaFontaine was given as an example of something ineligible because LaFontaine is decidedly not a woman?)

When I was thinking of ineligible characters, I was thinking of LaFontaine or even Janet from The Good Place, who does repeatedly say "not a girl". I know the line is probably thin, but have they done and said things that fall on that side? Because yes, then they wouldn't be eligible.

I'm not sure about Season 2, but they say "I don't know" and "hadn't really thought about that" to being asked if they're a woman after they take off their disguise in Season 1...which I know isn't as conclusive as LaFontaine or Janet.

I appreciate all the information you've given! Since it isn't as conclusive and I let the nominations in, I'm going to leave it this time and then look into a little more after this round and possibly reconsider for the next one. Thank you for letting me know and answering all my questions! :)
